school can be good for you

school can be good for you and not good for you

There are many reasons we go to school. The main reason we attend  school is to gain the skills and education needed to live autonomously and successfully. school also teaches us social skills we will need in our future lives and careers
school is bad for you
Parents are not involved enough. ...
school are  closing left and right. ...
Our school are overcrowded. ...
Technology comes with its downsides. ...
There is a lack of diversity in gifted education. ...
  • school  spending is stagnant, even in our improving economy.
  • Going back to school can cause stress, anxiety, and depression for kids and adults alike. There's good reason for it. When it comes to your kids, they may not always talk about it, yet there are many factors that can affect their mental health. This is true for both kids and parents.
Not enough quality sleep can cause an inability to focus, lower productivity, irritability, and depression. For your kids this can lead to lower grades and their inability to focus can also cause them to be injured if they play sports. It’s important for everyone in your household to get plenty of sleep.
While adults can manage on 7-8 hours of sleep, teenagers need about 9.5 hours to nourish their growing bodies and minds. Most teenagers average about 7.5 hours a night, 2 less hours than their body needs. Two hours per night over the course of a 5-day week means your child is losing 10 hours of much needed rest every week.
Sleeping in on the weekends is not enough to make up for that sleep deficit. To keep your kids healthy and help them reduce stress naturally, help them make sure they’re getting a minimum of 9 hours of sleep per night, every night. Keeping a regular sleep routine, even on the weekends and over holiday breaks, will help them function better in the long-term.

2. Bullying

Here are some harsh facts about bullying from the American Society for the Positive Care of Children:

  • 160,000 kids skip school every day for fear of being bullied
  • When bystanders step up to help, bullying stops within 10 seconds 57% of the time
  • 30% of kids admit to bullying someone else
  • 1 in every 3 kids has been bullied at school
  • 70% of school age children have witnessed bullying
  • 28% of students grade 6-12 and 20% of students grade 9-12 have been bullied
  • When it comes to cyberbullying, 6% of students grade 6-12 have been victims and 16% of high school students within the last year. For LGBT students, that number jumps to 55.2% experiencing cyberbullying.

Is it any wonder, with these statistics, that kids today are stressed out about school and what they’ll face there? Kids fear for their safety if they’re being bullied physically, yet cyberbullying is a completely different fear. They don’t face their attacker and don’t know how many other students are on board with the attacker’s comments and posts.

3. Standardized Testing

Approximately 25% of students have test anxiety.  Not every brain functions the same; just because a student has a good memory, it does not define their intelligence.  For students who freeze up at testing even though they know the answers, it can cause anxiety over how their grade will be affected if they don’t do well and what other students will think of them if they fail.

Testing can have a long-term effect on a student’s grades and their ability to move forward and apply for higher education.

4. Anxiety

Students face a variety of stress factors including deadlines, peer pressure, fear of failure, and more. With all of this pressure, anxiety in children and teens is on the rise.  When your child is dealing with anxiety, it can make it hard to be successful at the factors that are causing the stress in the first place; creating a vicious cycle that they aren’t able to break.

If your child also has a fear of speaking in public, getting called on in class or being asked to present a project to the class can significantly increase their anxiety level.

5. Panic Attacks

Agoraphobia is a major cause of panic attacks.  Schools are packed with masses of students moving about in a multitude of directions, creating a panic situation for anyone with agoraphobia. The condition can also be brought on by the use of prescription medications, being overwhelmed or overloaded, and high levels of stress.

For students who suffer from panic attacks, it can have a serious impact on their ability to study, participate in class, and maintain high grades.

6. Homework

A study by the University of Phoenix found that, on average, high school students deal with an average of 17.5 hours of homework per week. That’s in addition to the time they spend in class and doing extracurricular activities. Which means, between school, sports, clubs, and homework, your high school student is putting in more hours of work per week than you. Your child is dealing with school work and peers from the time they wake up to the time they fall asleep every day of the week.

Homework time has to find a way to fit into your child’s schedule, which means lots of late nights, causing them to be sleep deprived, leading to fatigue and higher levels of stress.

7. Stress

Is it any wonder with the amount of work to do, peer pressure, bullying, and sleep deprivation that stress is on the rise for high school students? Add to the pressures of upcoming graduation and trying to make decisions about school and work that will affect the rest of their lives.

NYU found that 49% of high school students deal with stress on a daily basis. This level of stress can make it difficult for your child to concentrate and focus in class, during tests, and working on homework. Stress can also lead to physical disorders like obesity. If not treated, stress can become a way of life that will follow your child into adulthood.

8. Depression

Many students deal with depression under the weight of their workload and pressures from teachers, friends, and even parents. They tend to detach and hibernate within themselves to deal with the emptiness that overwhelms them.

In extreme cases and if not treated, depression can lead to self-harm and even suicide. Many students’ dealing with depression never seek help for fear of how they’ll be perceived.

9. Social Integration

Students have a deep desire, and need, to be accepted by their peers and feel like they belong. Feeling out of place can be damaging to their emotional and mental well-being, causing them to have difficulty feeling happy and safe in their environment. What if more than half of high school students didn’t feel engaged at their school? There would be a lot of students feeling left out and alone, causing depression and anxiety among them. That would be bad for the entire school, right? Surprisingly, a Gallup poll found that a whopping 56% of high school students did NOT have a sense of belonging.

School is not just a place for students to study academics, it’s also where they learn social skills that will help them excel in college and in their careers. If they’re not connecting with their peers, they’ll have trouble learning these necessary skills. Many students who feel like they don’t belong describe school as “hostile”. If more than half of high school students feel disengaged with their classmates, this is not the personal issue of the student, it’s a problem with the school.

10. Psychiatric Disorders

The high-stress situation of school can be a contributing factor to a child’s psychiatric disorders. More than 6% of teens are taking prescription medications for anything from depression to ADHD. These medications can cause your child to become easily distracted in class, making it harder for them to keep up with notes, assignments, and testing.

Students with ADHD find standardized testing almost impossible to manage, however basic classroom assignments and homework can be just as difficult. Even though their intelligence level may be high, falling behind on testing and homework can make them question their intelligence. Usually this is not related to their mental capacity.  Instead to their lack of motivation to pay attention and keep up.
In order to help kids through these mental health issues and concerns of their school years, it has to be a joint supportive effort of parents, teachers, school administrators, and school boards working together to ensure the safety and happiness of our students.
If you feel that your child is dealing with any of these issues and needs help, seek professional guidance with a counselor, therapist, coach, or psychiatrist to help your child succeed through their educational journey.

Olmypic games short story year 9

If I was an athlete at the olympic games I would get a week's worth of drinks and get 5 pairs of shoes and I would test out the cardboard beds by jumping on them and I make sure that I get in front of a camera at least once.  For my sport I would do figure skating. I would feel nervous if I were to fall over in front of everyone on camera. And I would be concerned about my skates getting caught on the ice and tripping over. One of the tricks I would like to try is an edge jump.

Analyse the effect of heat

Contraction- When the heat causes the can to become smaller.

Conduction- Where the fire heats up the metal rod causing the pins to drop.

Convection- Moving heat by moving particles the crystals moves up first before going around the rest off the water because hot air rises.

Convection in gas- When the tea bag is burnt the last bits of it flew up into the air

Expansion- Where the ball became bigger when put over heat causing it to be too big the fit in the hoop.

Effect of heat- Where the object that your heating up expands and usually makes the object weaker or makes it grow or shrink in size.

Political party

Our political party’s name was work as a team

We believe that you should vote for our political party because we care about people’s wellbeing and want to make sure they have a warm, safe environment to live in.

Another one of our focuses in the world for the future is to improve the education system all over the world. We believe that anyone should be able to go to school whether they’re a female or a male and they should be able to get the education that they need. And if they can’t get a uniform then we will make sure that they have a uniform so that they can go to school and so that they are warm.

Change the way that transport is to the environment because of all of the harmful pollution that is created. Things like making it cheaper to buy electric cars or free public transport for example buses because you can fit more people on a bus and it causes a lot less pollution then having so many cars on the roads.

Make the process to apply for a job a lot easier so that there are less families on the streets. A Lot of families end up living on the streets because their parents lose their jobs and have no income causing them to not be able to always pay their bills on time which means that they then lose their house.

Have more food banks available for people that are less fortunate or are struggling to feed their families.

People under 16 should not be allowed to drink energy drinks

Energy drinks taste good but you might not be so quick to agree when you find out how much damage they actually cause.

Energy drinks are highly addictive. If you drink lots of energy drinks or if you drink it regularly and you try to quit by just stopping drinking it your body won’t be used to not having all of the extra energy making you tired which then causes all of your organs to shut down. Unfortunately by drinking too much, you can end up with dental problems, weight gain and the development of obesity and type 2 diabetes.Plus if you have an addiction to energy drinks then you’ll be buying a lot of them which then means that you’ll be spending a lot more money.

Parents and teachers  raised concerns about the impact that energy drinks have on children and young people in the school environment. One teacher said: “It makes the students too hyper and makes it way harder to teach them”.  If kids are hyper it makes it a lot harder for them to focus in class because they’re wanting to walk around a lot more causing them to fall behind on class work resulting in them ending up not getting as high grades which then results in them being held back a year. Kids are much more argumentative and talk back a lot more causing more stress on parents, guardians and teachers.

Drinking energy drinks causes extreme sugar intake. It was reported by Diabetes UK that over 7,000 under 25’s have type 2 diabetes which they think is caused by energy drinks. One 500ml can of Monster Origin contains 55 grams of free sugars. Energy drinks are acidic, and

frequently consuming them can discolour your teeth and wear out your enamel over time. Causing you to get dental issues such as cavities. Sugar-free energy drinks still contain just as much caffeine as ones with sugar. Artificial sweeteners have also been linked to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.

Energy drinks taste good but do you really want a drink to be in control of your health, your relationships and so much more.

What interpersonal skill did you use today? We used our team working skills.

How did it help with the success of the activity? That we worked together by putting a hoop on the ground three people stepped into the front hoop and the other two people steeped from the back hoop into the middle hoop someone in the middle hoop without dragging it or stepping out of the hoop pick it up and pass it to the people in the front hoop they put it in front and we kept moving into the hoop in front until we reached the end.

Who did you work with that went well today? Today I worked well with my entire group Patrick, Isiah, Maddie and Quaiden.

If you were to do it again, how would you do it differently? If I was to do it again I wouldn't drag the hoop or step out of it because we then had to go back to the start because we would have got "bitten by a shark"

Analyse the effect of heat

 Discuss:

Conduction:Conduction is the process by which heat energy is transmitted through collisions between neighboring atoms or molecules. Conduction occurs more readily in solids and liquids, where the particles are closer to together, than in gases, where particles are further apart.Transferring heat by passing energy through a solid.

Convection: Moving heat by moving particles. Convection is a transfer of heat related to the movement that occurs within a fluid due to the rising of hotter materials paired with the sinking of colder materials. This occurs because hotter materials have less density than colder ones.

Contraction: Getting smaller/leaving  contraction is when the muscles of your uterus tighten up like a fist and then relax. Contractions help push your baby out. When you're in true labor, your contractions last about 30 to 70 seconds and come about 5 to 10 minutes apart. They're so strong that you can't walk or talk during them.

Expansion: Expansion is what happens when something becomes bigger or more extensive. If you enjoy good pastry, you will be excited by the expansion of the bakery, but be careful or you will also see the expansion of your waistline. The noun expansion is from the Latin word expansionism, which means a spreading out. What heat particles expound making things bigger.

Was the cold or hot water quicker or wren they the same time? No they weren't the same the hot water wa quicker. Why? heat

Because heat travels fast to cold the areas. the water speeds so fast that the cold water is deserving the crystal  that is in the water. The hot water was the quriter because the cold one is colder one takes that cold away from the crystal. The purple dostovels faster withe hot water.
